Ricoh KR-5 Super 35mm SLR w/ Rikenon 50mm 1:2 lens

The circa-1982 Ricoh XR-5 is a simple, reliable mechanical 35mm. The included lens is a fast and sharp Rikenon 50mm f2. This camera competed with the Pentax K1000 (and it is compatible with the same K-mount lenses) as both cameras are no-nonsense, reliable mechanical cameras with few frills. We'd reckon the K1000 has a slightly more robust build quality (particularly its standard lens) but the KR-5 Super has the edge in terms of features (it adds a self-timer, an on/off switch for extending battery life, and has a faster flash synch speed). 

Battery info

The KR-5 Super requires two 357 silver oxide or LR44 alkaline batteries for its light meter (the 357s are available as an add-on).

The battery life isn't given in the manual but it should be quite lengthy if you remember to switch the meter off (by putting the film advance lever in the rest position). 

Condition notes

The camera and included lens are in very good condition. The only noteworthy cosmetic flaw is a few dark dust specks in the viewfinder (this doesn't affect photos). We confirmed both its shutter speeds and light meter have good accuracy.
