Yashica MG-1 rangefinder 35mm camera (serial 70600635)
Yashica MG-1 rangefinder 35mm camera (serial 70600635)
Note: The hot shoe isn't triggering flashes in this camera. So it's not a good choice if you're planning on using an accessory flash. It's otherwise working well.
The Yashica MG-1 is a classic 35mm rangefinder camera from the 1970s. It's sometimes described as a 'simplified Electro 35'--the little brother to the famed 'Spider-Man camera'. This camera features a sharp Yashinon 45 mm f/2.8 lens (4 elements in 3 groups), a coupled rangefinder with parallax correct marks, and aperture priority exposure.
This camera was originally designed to use now-discontinued PX32 style batteries; in our testing a modern 4LR44 battery with foil as a spacer are a prefect substitute.
Condition notes
The camera was tested with film and delivered sharp, well-exposed images. Apart from the hot shoe flash synchronization mentioned earlier, all features are working correctly. It is in very good aesthetic condition as well. The original ever-ready case is in somewhat worn condition.
