Note: this camera has a yellow tint to its viewfinder (a common issue for Minolta of its era) due to a yellowing of its pentamirror coating. This is purely cosmetic and does not affect photos.

The Minolta Maxxum STsi (called the Dynax 404si in Europe and Alpha Sweet S in Japan) is a lightweight and easy-to-use late 1990s 35 film SLR from 1999. It includes a Minolta AF 28-80mm f3.5-5.6 zoom lens.

Popular Photography review

Here is how this camera was described in the November 1999 Popular Photography:

Almost as easy (as the QTsi) is the less cutely named Maxxum STsi Pano. Minolta aficionados familiar with the Maxxum family tree, will find the STsi on a limb between the HTsi and the QTsi, sharing the QTsi body size, construction, and cosmetics with an added weight of only ⅝th of an ounce… And here are all the additional icings on the STsi cake: eight-segment honeycomb cell plus spot exposure metering with aperture-priority and shutter-priority autoexposure, as well as manual exposure (using + and - signs), all visible in the finder; +3 EV exposure compensation; three-frame bracketing at ½-EV intervals; manual ISO settings 6-6400. Setting controls is quite simple--much like those on the Maxxum XTsi Plus: turn mode dial to the control you wish to change, push center function button, and turn right-front control wheel to make your selection.

Battery info

This camera requires two CR2 lithium batteries (available as an add-on).

Condition notes

The camera was tested with a shutter analyzer and calibrated light source and all shutter speeds and auto exposure settings are working with very good accuracy. The camera was tested with a battery and film installed (the film was not developed) and all functions are working correctly. Apart from the previously mentioned yellow tinge in the viewfinder, the camera and lens are in good cosmetic condition (see photos). The lens includes a removable hood.
