Canon Prima AF-8 35mm film camera w/ case (serial 4019879)
Canon Prima AF-8 35mm film camera w/ case (serial 4019879)
Released in 1997, the Canon Prima AF-8 Date (called the Sure Shot Owl in some countries) is a well-designed compact 35mm camera with a nice, sharp fixed 35mm lens. It's a subtle update from 1994's already-excellent Prima AF-7 (confusingly also called the Sure Shot Owl) with main difference being the new easy-to-use mode dial.
This is the quartz date version of the AF-8 with optional date imprinting. The calendar is goes up to the year 2049. A CR2025 battery is required for this feature (not included).
Here's the description from The Canon Museum:
"A 35 mm single focal length compact camera featuring an extra-large, easy-to-see viewfinder. The model’s large viewfinder offers three times the viewing area found in conventional compact cameras, allowing subjects to be seen with greater ease and clarity. The feature even enables users to take pictures while wearing eyeglasses as the entire image area can be viewed up to a distance of two centimeters from the viewfinder. A Mode Dial, located on the face of the camera, consolidates all of the operation functions at the user’s fingertips. The camera has a stylishly designed sleek black body and features the Canon logo in raised silver letters."
Condition notes
All camera features were tested with a battery and film installed (the film was not developed) and is working great. We verified its autoexposure and autofocus are working with good accuracy. The camera is very good cosmetic condition (see photos) with only minor wear. The original case is included.
