Nikon FG 35mm film SLR camera with 50mm f1.8 lens and ever-ready case
Nikon FG 35mm film SLR camera with 50mm f1.8 lens and ever-ready case
Note: The included ever-ready case is only in fair condition, it still works well for protecting the camera with its soft cloth interior but its outer leatherette is showing signs of flaking.
The FG is Nikon's smallest and lightest full-featured 35mm SLR camera: the body weighs only 490 grams and the whole body, 50mm lens, case and strap outfit only add up to 782g.
It's a very capable camera. It features aperture priority or program auto exposure or fully metered manual exposure. The LED metering is fast and easy to read. The camera requires two 357 or LR44 batteries. But, in typical Nikon fashion, it also includes mechanical 1/90 and bulb shutter modes if you should your batteries die at an inconvenient moment.
The included 50mm f1.8 Nikon Series E lens is in very good condition.
Condition notes
The camera and included lens were tested with film and the roll turned out great, all frames were sharp and exposed correctly. All shutter speeds were verified to have good accuracy and even curtain travel time with a shutter speed analyzer. The camera and lens are in very good cosmetic condition (see photos). The included Nikon 'ever-ready' case is only in fair condition, showing considerable wear.
Note: one slightly counter-intuitive feature of this camera is that the light meter doesn't function when you first load the film, you need take a couple of blank shots to advance the film counter to "1". This is designed so that you don't lose important shots by taking them on the film leader.
