The circa 1995 Canon Sure Shot 80 Tele (also called the Prima BF Tele) was one of the last dual focal 35mm length point-and-shoots ever made. A button lets you switch between a slightly wide view (38mm f/3.7 lens, 3 elements in 3 groups) and a portrait/telephoto view (80mm f/7.3 lens, 6 elements in 6 groups). It's a very user-friendly camera with a simple mode dial in the back and, in our view, it provides better image quality than a comparable zoom camera from its era.

We're big fans of dual focal length compacts (Minolta, Olympus, Fuji, and Nikon also made really nice models) and find it unfortunate they were crowded out of the market by zoom designs.

Here's how it was described in The Canon Museum:

Fully automatic autofocus camera with a button to instantly switch between the 38mm focal length (for snapshots and landscapes) and 80mm focal length (for portraits).

The direct zoom viewfinder gives a clear image area. Camera operation is simple with a mode dial on the camera back. With Ai-AF autofocusing, the camera focuses at three points in the image area and then selects the main subject to be focused.

The camera is easy to hold and has a black finish with a luxury feel.

The Sure Shot 80 tele requires a CR123A lithium battery (available as an option).

Condition notes
We film tested this camera and it delivered sharp, correctly exposed photos at both focal lengths. We also verified its film plane focus on an autocollimator and confirmed its autoexposure using a calibrated light source and a shutter tester. This camera is in very good cosmetic condition (see photos)
