The Nikon FE2 is one of the great manual focus 35mm film SLR cameras of all time. It represents a refinement of the already-excellent Nikon FE, improving its flash sync speed to 1/250, upping its top shutter speed to a blazing 1/4000, and improving its metering range. Despite being marketed as an advanced amateur camera, it was frequently used by professionals thanks to its features (many of which were missing in the pro F3) and its light weight.
The included Nikor 50mm f1.8 lens is sharp and lightweight.
The Nikon FE2 requires two 357 silver oxide batteries (optional). Alternatively, it will work with two alkaline LR44 batteries or a single lithium 1/3N cell.
Condition notes This camera (serial number 2463356) and lens are in excellent cosmetic and working condition (see photos). We tested this camera and lens with film and it delivered sharp, correctly exposed photos. All shutter speeds are working well.
Important usage notes
The FE2 is overall a very intuitive camera but this feature often confuses new users: When a new film is loaded, the meter only begins operating after you advance the camera to the "1" frame (shoot three blank frames); this is to prevent you from shooting on the exposed leader.
The ultra-thin vertically travelling titanium shutter blades in this camera enable its high speeds but they are also very easy to damage if you poke them with your fingers--please avoid touching the shutter blades.
